Welcome and Greetings Families of 4/5V

By , October 11, 2019 10:21 am

Hello everyone! I would like to take this opportunity to say hello and welcome all of you to our class. I purposely have taken this moment to begin my blog and to greet all of you. Our class blog is a tool to display student work, thinking and to see what students are doing in our learning. Check in often.

As you can imagine, it has been a very busy and hectic start up to the school year for everyone including myself. However, now that the dust has settled and our students have settled into routines, our classroom is building on creating a community of positive learning, partnerships and teamwork.

All of our students have some form of an agenda. I do agendas every single day. I sign and check them generally everyday. If I am unable to sign, it usually means our learning took priority. Having said that, students are still responsible to record the daily work or school events.

With respect to classwork going home, I am not an educator who typically sends much work home. Families are busy and children have put in a long day of learning. If a child comes home with some work, typically it is to complete something that should not take any length of extended time. I give plenty of class time to complete work in class. I strongly encourage you to have your child review their multiplication facts from 1-12 and find opportunities when you are out and about in the community to bring mathematics as a real world life skill.

Now that the long weekend is upon us, I wish all of you a happy and joyous long weekend with family and friends. We have a lot to be thankful for. Living in one of the most beautiful geographic areas in Ontario and Canada, a simple nature walk with family can be a rewarding and unforgettable experience.

Wishing you all the best! If you have any questions, please call or write a quick note in the agenda.

Mr. T. Vella
