Students in our class have been learning how to write a summary using non-fiction text. Students first read a text, use a t- table to identify the main idea and formulate a gist statement.

Learning Goal: we will identify the main idea in a text, create a gist statement and write a summary. 

Success Criteria:

• read text
• complete t-table for main ideas and gist
• share and collaborate with your elbow partner
• Write a summary
• post on the blog

Kindness is all around us. Our society becomes a better place when people act kindly to each other. March 2-8 is Random Acts of Kindness week. What will you do to be kind and make a difference? Students in our class wrote about their thoughts and feelings about kindness.
