Data Management

By , January 18, 2012 2:35 pm

What do we know:

  • A way to keep track of  data
  • You need to get information about a topic ex survey
  • You can graph information ex bar graph circle graph
  • Keys  or  legends can be used to provide key information
  • Graphs organize data in a visual way

What do we want to learn:

  • How to do a pie chart
  • How many different types of graphs are there
  • How can graphs help me understand other situations in the outside world
  • How to construct different graphs
  • How to create graphs using the computer
  • How to gather data and find totals

Types of Triangles and Polygons

By , January 13, 2012 4:12 pm

In class, we have been investigating types of triangles and polygons and identifying their properties. We used geo boards to help with our investigations. We learned that:

Acute Triangles : have all angles less than 90 degrees

Obtuse Triangles  – have one obtuse angle

Right Triangle – have one right angle

Equilateral Triangles – have all sides and angles equal

Isosceles Triangles have only two sides and angles equal

Scalene Triangles – have no sides and angles equal

We all see the world through a different point of view

Student in class have been discussing point of view and discussing how to make meaningful connections. Study the picture carefully. Who’s point of view could this picture be? Think of who, what, where, when, why and how? What does this picture remind you of? Explain your thinking.

  • some have opposite sides equals
  • some may have right angles, acute angles and obtuse angles
  • some quadrilaterals may have parallel lines.
